Lunch Time on a sunny Saturday, Gardiner St.

Plenty of people in the streets on a sunny Saturday! A wonderful week-end feeling - if only everyday could be just like this.

Yesterday I went to see “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” at the cinema. It was a really funny film! Of course it would have been impossible to cramp in all the book into the movie, but I think the spirit of Douglas Adams was very well captured in it. If you go see it, make sure to suspend your disbelief and to be in a “ready for the absurd” kind of a mood. The only complaint I have about the film was that the characters were very much lacking in depth; also I am not sure if the film would be appreciated as much by people who have not already read the book. But it’s a must-see if you need a good laugh!

Everytime I pass in front of this shop I never fail to have a good laugh at the T-shirts they have!

Today I walked in the rain and the droplets of water falling on my face felt very nice - and I loved to see the droplets of water on the flowers, the clovers, the benches…

The colours of this tulip seem to be getting even more vivid while it is just starting to fade. There is a lot of beauty as well in the texture of the petals, getting dry and contorted. I think it is still a very beautiful flower!

Beware of strangers tonight - it is the full moon, time of crime!
This is the perfect setting for a mysterious crime story - I love how strange and magnificent the Royal Pavillion looks at night, all lit up - and the full moon adds a lot to the atmosphere!

So many years, this building has been standing, through generations of people. I love the texture of the stones, and the painted wood, and the contrast of the colours.

The smile of a child: pure joy in front of his new toy! Oups I meant to say “Aral discovering a new device on which he is planning to do some research and work.”
Note: this picture was taken yesterday - I was unable to publish it on the day as we only got back to Brighton after midnight on the last train!

Emilie, 3 apples, a camera and a tripod. Dangerous combination!
Who said not to play with your food? I think it’s fun and it tastes even better afterwards!

The weather is perfect, the sky is blue, you can just stare at the immensity and get lost in it. Looking at the sea has become one of my favorite past time! How I love spring
I found this play while browsing randomly at the library, started to read it, and could not possibly put it down. This is an extraordinary play, based on deep, complex characters whose past resurfaces and unfolds until the end. The relationships between the three characters is what makes the play so intense; but it also raises social issues, and highlights how sometimes a simple choice can dramatically transform our lives.
I would absolutely love to tell you what the play is about – in fact, I had just done so but decided to erase the paragraph, refusing to spoil the story for you! Most of the pleasure of this play is to slowly uncover the story – therefore I will not say a word, and simply urge you to go and read it yourself!
There are so many ways in which this play could come to life on stage, as it is based on such strong characters. I hope I will get to see an adaptation of it one day!

Walking along the seaside, I stumbled upon this rose; wached up by the sea, the rose seems to be crying, abandonned, beautiful but unwanted. What happened here I wonder? A sad love story maybe, someone rejected by someone else, or maybe simply two people in love and too busy with each other to remember about the flower? Well at least this flower will not be forgotten totally now.

Three people passing in the street, singing “aye Krysna” (well I think this is what they were singing) - how strange!

I hope no one here is getting tired of seeing my tulips grow ~ I wanted to yet again share the tulips in my patio with you, because it was so nice to come back after several days and see how much the flowers had changed in my absence. Beautiful, are they not?

I saw this from the hotel window at 5 am (not having fully adjusted to the jetlag) - sunrises are so beautiful!

This could almost be a postcard, no? We had a beautiful, crisp weather all three days!
I am very sad to announce that photos from Canada will have to wait until my return to the UK. Although I have brought my camera and am snapping away at each possible occasion, I have forgotten the USB cable that links my digital camera to the computer - and therefore I cannot download my photos yet! Grrr… Very frustrating.
However, I am having a great time, the weather is beautiful - though a bit colder than the UK - and on Tuesday I promise to post some images!

As you can see my tulips are growing well in my patio: here is the image from the 29th of March and the 9th of March.
Announcement: The next few photographs will be from Canada, where I am going to tomorrow!

The area called “The Lanes,” South from the “North Laine” where I live, is a very old part of town which is made of very old and narrow streets full of antiques and jewellery shops, as well as some nice pubs and restaurants. A place where it is relatively easy to get lost - but you are never sorry for that because it allows you to make yet more discoveries!

Here is Pierre Perret’s favorite place to eat!
Note: if you don’t understand the joke, check what the name of the restaurant means in French

Today was a lovely sunny day, ideal for a bite on the beach followed by a bit of biking! We went all the way to the Brighton Marina, which was nice, but I much prefer this side of the beach here
Did I mention the food was delicious?
